Fulham Under-18s gave themselves a fighting chance of qualification, beating Tottenham 4-0 in the Premier League Cup on Saturday.
They now wait on other results elsewhere to determine their fate in the competition.
Ali Melloul announced a number of changes for his side’s Cup tie. Michael Allen started in goal and midfield duo Murphy Parker and George Okkas (who were both on the bench last weekend) started in the middle of the park. Attacker Lemar Gordon was also a starter in place of Michael Olakigbe.
The vistors got the ball into some good areas inside the opening 10 minutes, but the first decent opportunity fell to the young Whites. Gordon played a neat ball to Jaylan Wildbore, who in turn found the overlapping Parker. His cross was deflected out towards Okkas, but his effort was lifted over.
Up the other end, Spurs’ Renaldo Torraj tried his luck from just outside the box but scuffed his attempt.
Our boys were looking strong on the break and won a free-kick on the right which was whipped in by Imani Lanquedoc. His cross was well met by Olly Sanderson, whose header slid wide.
Some individual brilliance courtesy of Jaylan Wildbore put us ahead on 15 minutes. The forward beat two defenders with a delightful turn before slotting his shot through the eye of a needle, with the Spurs ‘keeper charging out his goal.
The boys were finding their groove and doubled their lead on 26 minutes. Sanderson was slotted through and tucked his shot calmly past Adam Hayton.
Two became three just past the half-hour mark, and it was another great finish. With Hayton off his line, Okkas intercepted before lobbing his shot in from far out.
An excellent half was soon brought to a close with the score at 3-0.

The away side nearly grabbed one back five minutes after the break, when Jez Davies’ bullet header rattled off the post after Max McKnight swung in a good delivery.
Things got even better for Melloul’s side on 55 minutes, with Lanquedoc adding a fourth after being set up nicely by Wildbore.
After months on the sidelines, Stefan Parkes came onto the pitch and made an instant impact for his team, reaching highest to heroically head clear at the back post after an initial shot was deflected.
Parkes came to the rescue again on 65 minutes, sliding in to deny Jaden Williams who was through on goal.
Lanquedoc nearly added his second and Fulham’s fifth on 76 minutes. After linking up nicely with Gordon down the left, he blazed his shot over.
The domination continued, with Gordon having a shot of his own blocked at the back post.
Some of the football on display from our Under-18s was breathtaking, and a superb move nearly ended up with a goal. Lanquedoc played an inch-perfect ball through to substitute Terrell Works, who dragged his shot wide.
The whistle was soon blown, with our 18s securing their first win in five games.
