Under-23s attacker Sonny Hilton has been nominated for the PL2 Player of the Month Award for December.

An excellent season so far for Hilton was crowned with a particularly strong December. Three days into the month, the 20-year-old fired home to get his side level against Wolves at Motspur Park. Although he didn't officially pick up any assists, two goals came from corners swung in by Hilton himself.

Five days later, he was instrumental once again, bringing a chipped ball down before putting it on a plate for Ollie O'Neill, who calmly slotted home. That was one of four goals scored against Southend United in the Premier League Cup.

The pacey, skilful winger saved his best game for right before the Christmas break, when the young Whites faced West Bromwich Albion. After poking home to give our 23s a 2-1 lead, he once again linked up with O'Neill. He grabbed two assists to help his side to a 4-2 win.

So that's two goals and three assists in three games for our in-form Academy youngster.

Hilton is competing for the award alongside Reyes Cleary (West Bromwich Albion), Thomas Dickson-Peters (Norwich City), Joe Gelhardt (Leeds United) and Reece Welch (Everton).
