Marco Silva will make some changes for Wednesday’s visit of Norwich City in the Carabao Cup, but insists ‘resting players’ is not the correct terminology.

“Rest is not the best word,” he said. “I am not here to rest players. We can make some rotation, you can give some players the chance for them to play, because they deserve to.

“It’s not because we want to rest the others, it’s not something that I like to do or I like to say, because no-one is here to rest. We are here to give chances for the players that deserve it.

“We made six changes against Tottenham, and it wasn't because I wanted to rest some, it’s because I wanted to see other players that deserved it. And they did so well.

“Probably tomorrow we are going to do changes as well, because we are a competitive group, everyone is working really hard to get this chance.

Marco Silva applauds the Fulham fans

“Norwich is really important for us. We want to keep playing in this competition.

“We are going to play with a strong XI, 100 per cent, because the group is really competitive between them, even if you change a certain number of players we are going to be a strong side.”

Saša Lukić could be back in contention for the SW6 derby against Chelsea next week, but other than that there is no news on the injury front.

“More or less the same situation from the last game,” Silva confirmed. “Saša is already starting [training] with the team – probably it’s going to be too soon for him to be involved in the game. Probably for the next one he is going to be involved in the squad list.

“Same with Adama Traoré – still out, still doing his recovery. Tosin as well.”
