Bio
On Thursday 10th September 2020, the Club confirmed the signing of Netherlands international defender Kenny Tete.
Right-back Tete signed from Lyon for an undisclosed fee on a four-year deal, with a Club option to extend by a further 12 months.
Tete arrived fresh from a fantastic UEFA Champions League campaign, with Lyon making their way to the 2020 Semi-Finals having knocked out some big sides on the way.
The Dutch international should feel right at home in SW6 as he too knows how to knock Juventus out of Europe, featuring in both games as Lyon triumphed over the Old Lady across two legs.
He also helped them to dispatch Manchester City 3-1 in the Quarter-Finals, before Lyon’s valiant effort was brought to an end by eventual winners Bayern Munich in the Semis.
Tete helped Lyon to a 4-1 win in their first game of the current season last Friday, which proved to be the last of his 82 appearances for the club.
Prior to his time in France, Tete was a regular for Ajax, his local side having been born in Amsterdam.
He made his debut for the senior side in the 2014/15 season, and went on to make 55 appearances for the Club, including helping them reach the 2017 Europa League Final.
Having represented the Netherlands at youth level up to Under-21, he made his full international debut a day after turning 20.
Injury disrupted Tete's maiden campaign in SW6, but the following year he played an important role as we won the Championship, famously scoring a rocket in our title-clincing 7-0 win over Luton Town.
